Now I've switched back from George to Hammond and now I don't like THAT. This stupid POV...

The general would have laughed under other circumstances. The airmen in the hall were getting a refresher course on a soldier's bad language. Hammond might have thought that Jack had picked up new language skills from his recent experience as a host, if Hammond hadn't been witnessing the broadening of Jack's vocabulary for years. Jack had been a cold warrior. He could have picked up the Russian in any number of ways. But George was fairly certain they could blame the Greek, French, German, goa'uld and Arabic on Daniel's bad influence.

Try "Hammond of Texas" everywhere, or "the bald guy." Then Hammond will sound better. *smirk* (I understand, though. Got ~2000 words of cliche!fic down yesterday, and "Sam" turned into "Carter" for one section when she was talking to Jack. Had to force it back to "Sam.")

Love the polyglot swearing! (Though Jack probably already had Arabic -- was in Iraq, remember.)

Cussing

Yup. Jack could have had any number of languages. Arabic. French if he was doing any naughty things in Africa. Greek, just from being posted in Europe at some point. German, easily, for the same reason. Plus, the first thing soldiers learn when posted overseas is the local cussing. But we're blaming Daniel for the sheer quantity...

Still, not sure if this little piece is final yet. I expect this comment from every other person who reads it, including [livejournal.com profile] alpha_strike, who, if we are lucky, will then proceed to regale us with his own version of what Jack might have said...
